Textiles & Creative Writing Workshop

Inspired by Orishirishi
All levels welcome / Booking Required / Free

Join Stanley Picker Gallery for a textiles and creative writing workshop inspired by our latest exhibition, Orishirishi – which means ‘a little bit of everything’ and is changing-rooms style installation of textiles, clothing, sound, stickers and more, by multidisciplinary designer Yemi Awosile.

In addition to a guided tour of the exhibition, participants will be taken on a special visit to Kingston School of Art 3D workshops where Yemi produced much of her work, and we will also drop into the designer’s onsite studio where she is still busily producing new pieces to add to her show. All will be invited to trial some of the printing techniques used by the Yemi as fuel for creative writings.

The tour park of the workshop will be led by Stanley Picker Gallery Participation Curator Natalie Kay, with established poet and Rhythm and Muse founder Alison Hill taking the reigns to inspire words from brain to the page. It is our hope to make a little pamphlet of the outcomes.

All are incredibly welcome to participate, from first-time writers to aspiring poets and professionals. Only your curiosity and willingness to share your ideas are required to join in.

All necessary materials and refreshments will be provided, however places are limited, so to avoid disappointment booking is advised. To secure your place or ask any questions please email n.kay@kingston.ac.uk or telephone 020 8417 4074.
