Saturday Art Club at Dorich House Museum

To start this term, Stanley Picker Gallery are pleased to be hosting a special Saturday Art Club at our partner venue Dorich House Museum, the 1930’s former studio-home of artist Dora Gordine, located along Kingston Vale, a ‘deer’s leap’ from Richmond Park.

This fun and free Saturday session for children ages 7-11 will be led by a team of Kingston School of Art students and alumni, and during their visit the young artists will delve into the themes of the museum in fun and engaging ways – combining interactive games, making, drawing, and discussion – as they explore the site and practice of its creative inhabitants.

Particular attention will be given to Here, Somewhere, an exciting series of sound and sculptural interventions by artist and designer Honey Birch, that reinvent Dorich House as a queer home, questioning its history and imagining a simultaneous queer future.

Parents are encouraged to drop their children off and return at the end of the session, to see what has been taking place and to explore the museum together.

All materials are provided.

The museum is located over four floors. There are 78 steps to the top floor, which is accessed via a narrow staircase. Please note that there are changes in the level of the steps, though we do have metal handrails on the steps to the first and second floors. The museum currently has no wheelchair accessible toilets. We apologise that we are unable to offer full access for all physical abilities at this time. Kingston University is working to improve access for all visitors.
