Edges of a Close Reading is an artist-led reading group founded by We Are Publication members and artist filmmakers Holly Antrum and Keira Greene in 2019.
Edges of a Close Reading has been a series of close/d reading sessions, co-hosted with invited guests who have been advocates for texts close to their own work. The group’s fifth iteration at Stanley Picker Gallery is hosted by mutually overlapping artist members of both groups – Holly Antrum, Keira Greene, Edward Dorrian, Anna Lucas, and Mónica Rivas Velásquez, who collectively bring together recorded materials to form a piece of work generated by shared reading and discussion.
(Edges of) a close/d screening, will be an experimental presentation that builds on the occasion of t h e H O L D. The evening programme is thereby generated by the process of exploring altnernative strategies to reading and production, while accessing a constantly evolving and generative set of texts and films as carriers of ideas that change shape through exchange. The aims of the reading group here begin to intersect with the aims of making visual art and artist-led research. The programme material forms an experimental dialogue about and through making a collaborative work – sitting within the installation and driving enquiries of the larger We Are Publication collective.
