Community Heritage Harvest Day

Organised by Ariadne’s Thread Group CIC Kingston Museum Garden, Wheatfield Way, Kingston upon Thames KT1 2PS
27 September 2024, 12-5pm | Free | All Welcome

Stanley Picker Gallery is pleased to be participating in Kingston Heritage Festival 2024 as part of a Community Heritage Harvest Day, an outdoor display of ancient crafts and traditional techniques, with demonstrations and talks about natural resources and homemade processes to spread awareness of sustainable, regenerative and more harmonious ways of making. We will be joined by the team at 121 Collective, who will be sharing examples of processes used in the development of our current exhibition, Under Construction.

The event will also include processing of this year’s flax harvest from local community gardens, including a crop managed by Stanley Picker Gallery’s team, displays of fibre and textile artwork, collaborative tapestry, examples of harvested materials such as clay and hazel, and arts and crafts workshops alongside a gardening and biodiversity corner and healthy homemade bakes and bread from seed-based recipes.

This event is a celebration traditional crafts and the intangible cultural heritage of our vibrant communities but also to create an engaging and stimulating learning experience for children and community groups – Magdalena Glowacka, Event Organiser & Founder of Ariadne’s Thread
