Stanley Picker Gallery is excited to pilot a new Art Club for young people aged 14-18 from our local community who are enthusiastic about art and design. This is a FREE event, and if successful will continue to run next term.

The session will be led by a team of Kingston School of Art students and alumni, and complement the gallery’s current exhibition, Larry Achiampong A Letter, A Pledge, which centres around two films that delicately unfurl the tensions of dislocation and grief, while placing the visitors in an environment filled with sculptural elements. Oware games and Asante stools, fabricated in the Kingston School of Art 3D workshops, as well as retro video games are present for visitors to learn to play.

Young artists will delve into the themes of the exhibition in fun and engaging ways – combining interactive games, making, drawing, and discussion – as they explore the practice and processes of contemporary artists and learn new techniques.

Parents are encouraged to drop their young people off and return at the end of the session, to see what has been going on and visit the exhibition together.
