Artists: Mary, Karen, Dick, Paul, and Abi, with special contributions from Sharron, Helen, and Karim.
Stanley Picker Gallery is delighted to welcome back members of The Grange, to develop new art and design works inspired by the gallery’s current exhibition “You say Volvo, I say Potato…” Outcomes will be showcased onsite in the Stanley Picker Gallery Lobby 15-17 November 2018, with a celebration event on Wednesday 14, 4-7pm.
The newly formed design collective is comprised of emerging talents from across Surrey, participating in association with The Grange – a specialist organisation supporting people with disabilities to lead fulfilling and independent lives. The artists presenting A Head for Design enlisted in a programme of gallery-based workshops as part of The Grange’s creative and leisure activity offer, overseen by fellow artists Helen Hughes and Sharron Smyth. They were also treated to top tips by talented Kingston School of Art BA Graphic Design student, Karim Isaac-Shah.
During the programme, with workshops tailored to meet the interests and requirements of individuals, the up and coming creatives have been learning about and experimenting with different approaches to print, graphic design, and textile design. Outcomes to date include plywood prints, pictures made using the impressions of recyclables, and some rather snazzy t-shirts!
The Gallery team have again been impressed by all, and hope that you will enjoy a browse of their collection.
