Preparations are underway for the launch of our new web-resource www.pilotschannel.org promoting experimental models of design education across the globe, being presented offsite at a special afternoon session during London Design Festival at Victoria & Albert Museum on Monday 15 September. This new website is developed from  Pilots: Navigating Next Models of Design Education,  a programme of experimental participatory workshops, co-curated with El Ultimo Grito in May 2013, which addressed the impact of the internet on studio-based design education.

The Gallery’s onsite exhibition programme opens on 24 September with a graduation show by Kingston University MA Fine Art students, before we launch our major solo exhibition by Stanley Picker Fellow Laura Oldfield Ford. The artist’s distinctive paintings and drawings will give a completely new perspective on the suburbs within the old county boundaries of Surrey, where she has been examining marginal political and counter-culture groups in an attempt to ascertain the effects of landscape on the collective psyche.

In the meantime, there is a brand new section of the Stanley Picker Gallery website which gives visitors direct access to a selection of Online Works commissioned or presented by the Gallery over recent years. These include two specially commissioned projects by Ian Whittlesea, a short film by Gilly Booth/Hijack about Picker House architect Kenneth Wood  and  Marloes ten Bhömer’s  Goo Floor Crawl, a short film developed as part of the designer’s recent Stanley Picker Fellowship.
