Stanley Picker Gallery presents the first public opportunity to hear and see some of the ideas and preliminary plans for Oreet Ashery’s Stanley Picker Fellowship research over the coming months, in early preparation for her major solo exhibition in 2015/16.

Ashery is a UK based interdisciplinary visual artist born in Israel, whose personally and politically charged exhibitions, performances, videos and writings are highly regarded internationally. She will be introducing her Fellowship project and wider practice in a late afternoon talk at 4.30pm on Tuesday 25 November in the Main Lecture Theatre at the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture, Kingston University.

She says of her ongoing practice:

My practice incorporates the performative and fictive, the potential group, the body in deterritorialised public contexts, objects and assemblages. I am currently interested in the ways in which somatic experiences in life and in art produce unexpected politically charged moments and the subjectivities that emerge in self-knowledge forming and knowledge formations, as part of the making process of working with groups or individually.
