Look at the person nearest you, You see yourself in them,
Be inside them, Where are you now?

Stanley Picker Gallery are pleased to support Touch – an exhibition of photographic works by London-based artists Biffie Smith and Liz Ord, and poetry by Ben Davis, which has been specially curated by Stanley Picker Gallery Assistant and SatChat founder Grant Bingham with the aid of Will Aston, his fellow student from Kingston University’s Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture.

Displayed in the Gallery Lobby between 5-7 November, the showcased body of work – exposed and unprotected – is a response to the potential of touch; exploring connection and disconnection, observation and self. It reflects upon the “intense portrayal of the body” expressed in the practice of Russian sculptor, artist and designer Dora Gordine (1895-1991) for whom the Gallery’s current exhibition Dora is named and which presents examples of her collection personally selected by a group of contemporary women artists to sit alongside works of their own.

Touch will launch on Wednesday 4 November 5-7pm and all are invited to join the artists and curators in celebration.

Workshop Saturday 7 November 1-3pm / Free (Booking advised)
Join artists Biffie Smith and Liz Ord for artists’ talks accompanied by a hands-on and interactive workshop about looking and alternative, collaborative approaches to photographic practice using participants own cameras or smartphones.
All participants will receive free refreshments and gifts from the artists.
