Stanley Picker Gallery is delighted to be hosting Waiting Room, a new exhibition from Anstee Bridge, produced as part of their 2018/19 programme, Our Health Your Hands.

Our Health Your Hands celebrates 70 years of the NHS through the eyes of children and young people. Anstee Bridge students have been working with Bounce Theatre for the last year to research, document and celebrate the NHS in Kingston upon Thames. Outcomes include illustrative panels depicting the rich history of the NHS and those who have dedicated their lives to the service, oral histories, and letters of thanks, composed by Anstee Students, school children, and members of the public, in collaboration with It’s Not Your Birthday But…
This has culminated in the creation of a pop up Waiting Room, which will tour across the borough in June, with a visit to Stanley Picker Gallery during Children’s Art Week and Creativity and Wellbeing Week. The Waiting Room also acts as a teaching resource and Bounce Theatre are delighted to be offering local primary schools a free day of of workshops in which several children will earn their first Arts Award. As part of this experience, children will have the opportunity to visit the Gallery and exhibition , and participate in drama to talk about heritage and the NHS, before making a small piece of art to contribute to a visual timeline of Kingston Hospital.
