Stanley Picker Gallery hosts a debate at The Empire Remains Shop addressing the broad subject of water from a number of key perspectives, such as water footprint and transparency of the production-consumption cycle; ownership of nature and the financialisation of ecosystems; traditions and ethics of past, present and future uses of water. Speakers include design curators Jana Scholze and Jane Withers, whose past projects and research in the field of design have raised questions around global water issues and possibilities of a sustainable future; world water expert Prof. Tony Allan, author of Virtual Water: Tackling the Threat to Our Planet’s Most Precious Resource; and Cooking Sections Alon Schwabe and Daniel Fernández Pascual, who will bring their research perspective on the contemporary banking of nature.
