Launch Event: Wed 19 Nov 5-7pm / All Welcome
The Stanley Picker Gallery is pleased to present Where is here? a special exhibition of artworks made by students from Christ’s School Twickenham, Surbiton High School and Kingston University, alongside pupils from St John’s C of E School (year 5) and our Saturday Art Club, Rhythm & Muse, the Women’s Institute (Worcester Parkers) and members of the Bradbury Centre, who participated in a series of creative workshops inspired by the contemporary practice of psychogeographer, zine-maker and current Stanley Picker Fellow in Fine Art Laura Oldfield Ford.
Throughout the programme, with workshops tailored to meet the interests and requirements of individual groups, participants visited Seroxat, Smirnoff, THC, Oldfield Ford’s exciting new exhibition of drawing, painting, text and photographic artworks and learnt about the artist’s practice, influences and creative processes, while sharing their individual interpretations, ideas and personal preoccupations through free-writing, drawing and map-making, collage, drawing and discussion. Where is here? showcases a selection of the outcomes including billboard posters and ‘zines, the multiples of which we invite Gallery visitors to take away and begin their own collections. The Gallery team have been intrigued and impressed by all, and hope that you will join us in celebrating their achievements.
