Stanley Picker Gallery is excited to continue running our popular Saturday Art Clubs for children and young people of the local community who are enthusiastic about art and design. Workshops are FREE for all and run most weekends 11am-12.30pm (ages 7-11) and once a term, 2-3.30pm (ages 14-18). Additionally, we run regular SEND-only events.
All sessions are led by a team of Kingston School of Art students and alumni, and will complement the gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Trust by Débora Delmar. Through a combination of sculpture, film, and installation, Delmar explores multiple meanings of the word Trust and how value is generated through the financial world, as well as through physical and symbolic impacts of architecture present in gentrification, consumerism and surveillance in the urban environment.
Young artists will delve into the themes of the exhibition in fun and engaging ways – combining interactive games, making, drawing, discussion – as they explore the practice and processes of contemporary artists and learn new techniques.
Parents are encouraged to drop their young people off and return at the end of the session, to see what has been going on and visit the exhibition together.
